Kareena Kapoor was born on September 21st 1980 in one of the most the famous Bollywood families, ‘The Kapoor Khandan’. Her parents Randhir Kapoor and Babita as well as sister sister Karisma Kapoor are all known names in the Bollywood fraternity. Legendry showman Raj Kapoor was her grandfather. Kareena attended Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai and after her parents got separated she was sent to Dehradun to attend Welham Girls’ boarding school. As a kid, Kareena would accompany sister Karisma on the sets, but was never interested in movies. After completing high school, Kareena headed straight to Harvard to attend the summer school but returned to India to pursue a career as an actress. Kareena’s debut movie was JP Dutta’s ‘Refugee’ opposite Abhishek Bachchan. Kareena was so magnetic on screen that she left a great impact on the audiences in her debut movie.After ‘Refugee’, Kareena gave three superhits, ‘Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai’, ‘Ajnabee’ and ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’. Kareena was on a roll in the beginning of her career unlike sister Karisma, who had to struggle to make it to the top. Kareena however; had a career setback in 2002 and 2003 when all her movies started bombing at the box-office. Kareena tried to prove her talent by playing a prostitute in the parallel cinema movie ‘Chameli’ which released in 2004; it was followed by ‘Yuva’ and ‘Dev’ but none of the movies do any good for this classy actress. Kareena, who met Shahid Kapoor during the making of ‘Fida’, fell in love with the young actor and started dating him. Second half of 2004 got in some relief for Kareena as she had two hits, Abbas-Mastan’s ‘Aitraaz’ and Priyadarshan’s ‘Hulchul’. Kareena has also done movies with Shahid, like ‘Fida’ which was a flop, but ‘36 Chinatown’ and ‘Chup Chup Ke’ were big hits. In 2006, Kareena won admiration for her role in ‘Omkara’. Kareena is the brand ambassadress for big brands like Lux, Pepsi, Citizen Watch and Garnier Nutrisse hair products. Kareena is one of the highest paid actresses in Bollywood and charges on an average $800,000 per movie. Kareena and her boyfriend Shahid were also a part of the World tour ‘Rockstars’ in 2006.

She has grown in a jat atmosphere with a countryside upbringing. She always wanted to be an actress. And made her mind to get out of the rut and atleast try once. When she came to mumbai she knew nobody. It was tough and backbreaking. She was from hindi medium school. But all the odds made her resolutions stronger. Fortunately she got the Govind Menon's Khwahish which gave her aspirations an extra edges. A film about bedroom woes. A small film went to win the big time attention because of unbridled sensuality. She had given 17 kisses in the movie which turn away the attention of public and they gone to see the movie. Then again Mahesh Bhatt's thriller Murder directed by Anurag Basu has put Mallika in an unconventional act. It's a story of a married woman who's life is hell. She is lonely and had an affair. This film has shades of celebration, of blossoming, passion & love and of insecurity. She has signed one more film with Govind Menon Kis Kiski Kismat. It's a comedy film opposite Dharmendra. And another film untitled film of Mahesh Bhatt. Mallika Sherawat's decision of coming in films is still diffcult to digest for his father. He has not forgiven her. But her brother supports her from starting. She believes his support is her strength. She came from a bejewelled prisoner in a haryana haveli and has opted for the bollywood lanes. Her real name is 'Reema Lambha'. She had changed her name because their are many reema's in industry . And sherawat is her mother's last name and mallika sound like queen so she changed her name to Mallika Sherawat.
